  1. Off to Hermosillo, Mexico today..... what fun
  2. Been thinking about a steam deck, switch or other hand held system for traveling.
  3. As the title implies, I'm looking to set up a go bag or grab and go bag however you want to word it........ but I also think it would be a nice resource for others who want to travel and game My criteria are simple 1. it needs to be sized to be carry-on for a plane ( backpack or briefcase type size) 2. Light and mobile enough that I want to take it with me ( if too heavy nobody will enjoy taking it so it will be left home ) 3. Easy to setup and usage also teardown and pack My laptop is a ROG Strix so that's my base that I'm starting with
  4. @Yurizot yes the skunk was for skunkworks and I was also at SpaceX. I was at both as a 3rd party vendor. My new job let's me visit many different companies
  5. https://imgur.com/a/sCXiPGC Hmmmm, I think I'm lost better ask for directions
  6. I did end up getting the ASUS ROG Strix G17. Any good traveling accessories I should look for. Now I just need to figure out a mobile game setup.
  7. ASUS ROG Strix G17 (2023) 17.3” QHD 240Hz Gaming Laptop, Ryzen 9-7845HX, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060, 16GB DDR5 RAM, 1TB SSD, Windows 11, G713PV-WS94 https://www.walmart.com/ip/2103957626 That's not a bad price at 1399 in-store but should I be scared
  8. @Yva Xorna I love the for dummies books https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/1119601746/ref=dp_ob_neva_mobile That's the dummies book that I got. I'm thinking I want to make flash cards and maybe a reference list for commands like cin = user input from consoles and cout = print text in consoles type thing I can honestly say with what I do some of the programming will get very complicated Like having a 3 way switch on a remote control and depending on how the switch is set will have the machine function differently
  9. cout << "I think this C++ syntax is going to fry my brain!!!!!" << endl; I'm sure this is just like learning any other language just needs to be repetitive till it sticks
  10. Thanks @Kakon that site looks like it will be a great asset plus my C++ for dummies got delivered and it has a walk through for setting up code::block

    C++

    I'm starting the crazy journey to learn C++ or at least the basics. Currently skill level is zero So any help I could get from people with more knowledge then me would be greatly appreciated I know at some point with my job I may have to understand enough to troubleshoot something
  12. Was looking at a ROG G17 think it was a Strix version with a ryzen 9 and 16 gb of ram for 1,399
  13. I'm thinking under 2k but not set at that number for the right machine
  14. I was thinking about a System 76 laptop a few years ago and might look at them plus the ROG https://system76.com/laptops
  15. Lol not sure about laptops but I have built a few desktops with ROG boards and never had an issue with them. Was thinking about them .... would have done an original alienware before Dell bought them... not sure a Dell in a fancy wrapper is quite the same thing
