  5. You guys really don't make it easy to join. In any case you will see a few accounts created under different emails. I never received the validation emails and tried to cancel 1 of the registrations. So, here I am. Wondering. What game are you guys into. Let me know what's up. Kinda jumped back into WOW but am not looking to play long term. Have Helldivers 2, and Warhammer Space Marine 2 and Starfield on steam. Still miss and think about the old days every so often. Even joined SWG EMU, but it's not the same without my friends. For those who don't know. I work for the FDNY as Paramedic Lieutenant (Supervisor, and I hate it). I have been on the night shift since 2009. 5:30 PM to 5:30 AM. on a bi-weekly schedule. I recently had a life altering event at work and have been struggling a bit. But maybe that's a topic for a future convo.

  6. Hey guys, I wasn’t sure where to put this or if it belongs here at all. I wasn’t going to even write any of this but I have all these amazing memories from SWG with no connection to anyone from those days and I think about them often. My toon was a plain ol human “Asig”. I wasn’t pre-CU but I was a little bit pre NGE and I was recruited into Renntech as probably the biggest noob by some random guy I was buying starship parts off of. I dedicated every waking hour in game to becoming an ace pilot for the empire, grinding alone for a long time. Around the time NGE dropped I guess I started paying attention to guild chat a bit more and started getting more involved with my guildies and I started running end game content with them and fully understanding what this game really was. Even with the gutting that NGE did, the game was still top tier and I would have never experienced that without any of the people that took their time teaching me. What none of them knew, was that I was no older than 10 or 11 years old. I think I lied to them once and told them I was 23. I tried really hard to be “mature” but now that I’m older they might have just been humoring me since I behaved well. Either way, I’ve poked around this site and what I see is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen in gaming. The community that gave me my SWG experience - the Wanderhome community - sticking together throughout the years. I wish I had known, if I had been older maybe I would have had the idea to even look. I don’t know if this will ever reach them but I want to thank Ecaj, Cindi, Karlia, Bunkka, Tinkerer, and so many more from RTECH that made me feel welcome and setting a standard in my mind for how great being part of a guild can be. And thank all of you from Wanderhome that stuck through it to the end and even beyond.

  12. A quick note/suggestion. I read the synopsis on the back cover, and the sentence containing "two souls destined to meet and destined to face the mysteries of life together" would flow a little bit better as "two souls destined to meet and face the mysteries of life together". I will definitely be taking a look when I am done with the other 8 books on my reading list at present time. Good Luck!

  13. 77,000+/- voluntary resignation https://www.newsnationnow.com/politics/75000-federal-workers-trump-buyout/ 200,000 +/- probationary employees https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/feb/14/federal-worker-layoffs-trump-musk 2+ million civil service employees https://ourpublicservice.org/fed-figures/a-profile-of-the-2023-federal-workforce/ So as of today Trump has reduced federal employment by roughly 13.75% Medium compensation for them is $143,643 for a total savings of about $40 billion. They have also identified up to $521 billion in fraud the sad thing is that GAO knew about the fraud and Congress refused to do anything about it. https://www.whitehouse.gov/articles/2025/02/memo-to-press-hundreds-of-dollars-are-fraudulently-spent-every-year/ That above is a signification piece of thr federal deficit on its own. Remember line item in our federal deficit is interest on the debt. Getting it back down to what it was in 2020 snd roughly $600-$800 billion of our deficit disappears since most of our debt is short term financed.

  14. As we continue to push the boundaries of combat, and commerce in the Star Citizen universe, it’s crucial to ensure our hardware is up to the challenge. With Star Citizen 1.0 and the highly anticipated release of Squadron 42 in 2026, our gaming systems must be prepared to handle the evolving demands of the game’s technology. Why an Upgrade is Essential (Technical Breakdown) Star Citizen is not just another game; it’s a highly complex simulation that leverages advanced technologies such as: High Fidelity Asset Streaming: The game relies heavily on a continuous asset streaming model, meaning objects, environments, and NPCs are loaded dynamically. This puts significant pressure on memory bandwidth, storage speed, and CPU processing power. Technical Requirement: High-speed NVMe SSDs and fast RAM are critical to reduce asset loading lag and improve in-game responsiveness. 32 GB of Ram is LEAST AMOUNT OF RAM you should have in your system! Sure you can get away with 16GB of RAM if your system is only running Star Citizen but I have moments where Star Citizen will literally use 20+ GB of ram on my system (which has 192GB of RAM). Server Meshing & Object Container Streaming (OCS): As the game expands with more planets, NPCs, and dynamic player interactions, the efficiency of real-time data processing becomes vital. Technical Requirement: A high-performance CPU with large L3 cache (e.g., AMD Ryzen 7800X3D) helps maintain consistent frame rates during high-traffic gameplay. DirectX 12 and Vulkan Transition: Star Citizen is expected to fully leverage modern rendering APIs, allowing for better multi-threading and GPU utilization. However, this also means older hardware may struggle with optimization and performance. Technical Requirement: A modern GPU like the RTX 4080 Super and the upcoming RTX 5090 (which will MSRP's for 2/3 the cost of the systems this post will suggest/cover) ensures compatibility with future graphics engine updates and real-time ray tracing features. Multiplayer PvP Performance: PvP engagements require fast frame rendering and minimal input delay. Higher frame rates offer significant advantages in combat situations, improving tracking, aiming, and reaction times. Technical Requirement: A combination of high refresh rate monitors (144Hz+), powerful GPUs, and fast processors will ensure a competitive edge. Recommended PC Builds for Competitive Performance To stay ahead of the curve, I recommend the following builds, which balance performance and cost-effectiveness within a $3,000 budget: 1. High-Performance Build (~$2,800 - $3,000 USD): Ideal for players who want max settings and future-proofing. CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D (Best for gaming, thanks to its large L3 cache) GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4080 Super 16GB (Excellent for 1440p/4K gameplay) RAM: 32GB DDR5-6000 (Essential for seamless gameplay and multitasking) Storage: 2TB NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD (Crucial for asset streaming and loading speeds) Motherboard: ASUS Prime X870-P WiFi (Reliable and future-proof) PSU: 850W Gold Certified (To handle power spikes from GPU/CPU) Cooling: Corsair H150i Elite LCD (Maintains optimal thermal efficiency) Case: Lian Li O11 Dynamic (Great airflow and space for upgrades) [Purchase Links:] Thermaltake LCGS Reactor i80S Gaming Desktop CyberPowerPC Gamer Supreme Thermaltake Vista i480S B-Spec 2. Budget-Friendly Build (~$1,800 - $2,000 USD): For those looking to upgrade while keeping costs reasonable. CPU: Intel Core i7-13700KF (Solid gaming performance at a lower price point) GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ti Super (Great performance at 1440p) RAM: 32GB DDR5-5600 Storage: 1TB NVMe SSD + 2TB HDD (Balance between speed and storage) Motherboard: MSI B760 Tomahawk WiFi PSU: 750W Gold Certified Cooling: Noctua NH-D15 (Air cooling solution) Case: NZXT H7 Flow (Good airflow with minimalist design) [Purchase Links:] CyberPowerPC Gamer Supreme Liquid Cool Skytech Blaze 3.0 Gaming PC Where to Buy & Customization Options For those who prefer to build their own PCs or tweak the pre-built options, here are some reputable sites to purchase components and systems: Amazon: Wide selection and frequent deals on gaming PCs and components. www.amazon.com Newegg: A great choice for DIY builders, offering bundle deals and rebates. www.newegg.com Micro Center: If you prefer an in-person experience, Micro Center offers excellent in-store deals and knowledgeable staff. www.microcenter.com Build Your Own: Websites like PCPartPicker allow you to mix and match components to ensure compatibility and budget management Upgrading your system now will ensure that you're ready for Star Citizen 1.0 and Squadron 42 without struggling with performance issues that may arise from outdated hardware. As the game evolves with improved graphics, larger servers, and more intricate gameplay mechanics, having a high-performing PC will not only enhance your experience but also give you the edge in combat, exploration, and fleet operations.

  15. Great recommendations. For those who have a membership, Costco.com sells gaming computers at very reasonable prices with very similar specifications to Astrus recommendations. They currently have a build with a 9800X3D and a Nvidia 5080 for $2500, but you have to watch closely because it sells out quick whenever they get stock. https://www.costco.com/desktops-servers.html?computer-type=gaming&refine=||Computer_Type_attr-Gaming

  22. With the introduction of the Mirai Guardian and its variant, the Guardian QI, many of you might be wondering if these ships are worth adding to your fleet. Let’s dive into a facts-driven comparison to help you decide. Why the Guardian QI is Worth Buying The Guardian QI isn’t just a variant; it’s a specialized heavy fighter with interdiction capabilities. Here’s why it stands out: Quantum Dampener: The QI features a built-in quantum dampener, making it invaluable for intercepting and disabling escaping targets. This makes it one of the most versatile heavy fighters for piracy, bounty hunting, and fleet operations. Balanced Stats: Shield Capacity: (1x Size 2 shield), matching industry standards for heavy fighters. Firepower: Dual Size 5 gimbaled cannons and quad missile racks (Size 2), delivering exceptional burst damage. Maneuverability: With pitch, yaw, and roll speeds of 75/70/80 deg/s and acceleration of 15 m/s², it’s among the most agile heavy fighters. Complementary Role in Fleets: While other heavy fighters like the Vanguard Warden focus on brute durability and range, the QI introduces utility and tactical advantage, preventing enemy retreat in engagements. If you engage in missions requiring interdiction or tactical utility, the QI is a no-brainer. Why You Can Skip the Standard Guardian if You Have a Vanguard Warden The Standard Guardian, while a competent heavy fighter, faces stiff competition from the Aegis Vanguard Warden. Here’s a breakdown of why the Warden might already cover your needs: Survivability: Warden: Dual Size 2 shields and reinforced armor, making it the toughest heavy fighter available. Standard Guardian: Single Size 2 shield and standard armor, resulting in less durability. Firepower: Warden: Armed with a Size 5 nose-mounted cannon, a turret, and extensive missile hardpoints (4x Size 3 racks). Standard Guardian: Dual Size 5 gimbaled cannons and quad Size 2 missiles, offering less versatility in sustained combat. Range and Operational Longevity: Warden: Designed for long-range engagements with superior quantum and fuel efficiency. Standard Guardian: Comparable to other fighters but lacks the range and endurance of the Warden. Fleet Role Overlap: If you already own a Warden, its tankiness and multi-role capabilities likely make it redundant to own the Standard Guardian unless you need its slightly better agility (75/70/80 deg/s vs. Warden’s 55/50/70 deg/s). Conclusion The Guardian QI is worth the investment for its quantum interdiction utility, solid agility, and strong firepower. It’s a unique ship that adds tactical flexibility to your fleet. However, the Standard Guardian doesn’t offer significant advantages over the Vanguard Warden if you already own one. The Warden’s superior survivability, versatility, and endurance make it the more logical choice for heavy combat roles. If you’re looking to enhance your fleet, I’d say go for the Guardian QI. But if you already own a Warden, you can confidently skip the Standard Guardian and save your aUEC for something else. o7

  30. My MMO history began with a game called Anarchy Online in which I believe was November of 2004. (It was a long time ago and my memory is hazy to say the best) It was not a very good game and the graphics were beginning to look dated at this point in time so I think that I quit that game in January or February of 2005. My second MMO was Guild Wars (the first one) which began for me in May of 2005 and I was having fun with my female Warrior / Monk until the late autumn of that year when I tried out EverQuest II for free during their Halloween event but I was back in Guild Wars during their Christmas event for 2005 and no Santa Clause ever turned up despite everyone chanting ''Where is santa?'' in the chat. I had a great guy from Malta helping me running the guild but he suddenly decided to create his own guild which was a huge disappointment for me and greatly soured my love for the game. This all happened before the EverQuest II Halloween event. Right after that World of Warcraft had wrapped up their Valentines event for 2006 I was trying out that game which I played until the autumn of 2007. I have been on and off with World of Warcraft several times during the years but the game never fully clicked with me. Edit: I forgot to mention that I played Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures back in 2008 but it was short lived. I had even bought the Collectors Edition... never again. And I had some fun in Star Wars: The Old Republic but it wasn't the full MMO experience that I was looking for. I'm currently playing Lord of the Rings Online but I haven't gained a level in months and I'm just playing the auction house these days... looking for low priced goods that I can resell for a nice profit and that is something that I want in Star Citizen not to be striving to gain level after level but to do the good deals and to meet interesting people. Boy do I sound like a teenage girl.

  40. Thanks you guys! This site is what actually led me to StarCitizen. I bought a $40 package early on (there weren't many options back then) and I've been waiting ever since. I've tried to play a few times and it gets better and better but it's still not enough to convince my buddies to play with me 😅 @Shawkorrr Thanks your name is very familiar too ngl. I was very low key, just did my flying and kept to runs with guildies mostly. I got into PVP at the very end, I remember everyone fighting on Restuss for an event. I remember dueling a lot in front of Mos Eisley Spaceport too and farming DWB like mad lol Good times. I remember the SancT guys EVERYWHERE and I think a few of our guys went to Sanctuary near the end because our guild was kind of losing members to time and real life lol Very cool group as I remember. @Yva Xorna I tried decorating but there were soooooo many ways and options. I was very impressed with all the effort that went into the homes, guild halls, and cities. There just hasn't been a game like it since IMO. I think about joining Legends every once in a while for the nostalgia but never quite pull the trigger lol but I'm hopeful for Star Citizen. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!
