Hey all,
I'm a sucker for spooky stories so I thought we could share some! I'll go first...

The Lodge
One stormy night in the Scottish Highlands, a young hiker made his way through blankets of rain. The darkness engulfed him, the shrieking wind piercing his ears with its ghostly howls. He should have made it to his destination by nightfall, but had taken a wrong trail somewhere. Now here he was, walking in an unforgivable storm, unable to see where he had come from, or where he was heading.
Eventually he came upon an old lodge, derelict, abandoned years passed. The structure seemed to barely be standing in the harsh conditions. He was exhausted, drenched with rain and freezing cold and decided that here was a better place then any to settle down for the night. "I will get some sleep and find the trail in the morning" he thought as he entered the dark hallway. A smell of mold and earthiness filled his nostrils as his boots thundered across the old floor. It wasn't a hotel but it was a roof over his head. He entered a large room and set out his sleeping bag on the groaning floorboards. Crawling to what once was a fireplace, he meticulously used his firestarter with shaking fingers to get a cosy blaze going and finally felt some peace.
Laying back down on his sleeping bag his eyes began to examine the room, that now had a soft amber glow filling it. There were some broken chairs in the corner, covered in dust and an old bookcase that was filled with more bugs then books. On the wall to his left were 4 portraits of what appeared to be a family. He shined his flashlight up to each one, without the effort of getting up. The first was an older man with greyish hair and moustache, the second a younger lady with dark ebony hair and the remaining 2 were young children, a boy and a girl. As the flashlight danced between each one the hiker began to feel a deep sense of unease. The portraits were so old that they had sustained damage, to the point where each person had a twisted expression on their face. They were disfigured with dark eyes piercing his. The hiker clicked off his flashlight with a shudder and turned his back to the portraits. Within a few minutes he had drifted off.

The sounds of birds woke him up. The fire had burnt out and the sun was shining through the cracks in the old walls. With a satisfying stretch the hiker got up from his bag and began packing up his equipment for the day. Before he left he turned to look at the portraits. He didn't know why they had freaked him out so much the night before. Ghost movies never bothered him and to be honest he found them dull. Maybe it was just lack of sleep? Laughing to himself he turned around and suddenly stopped in his tracks. Each frame was empty. The man with the grey hair, his ebony haired lady and their 2 children... gone. The hiker stumbled back with a gasp and almost fell over his bag. These weren't portraits, they were windows.
