Zhiv
not laying it's own track, but replacing the ties under the track while it passes over head. It passes overhead, undoes the rail from the tie, then lifts and wedges the rails apart to the outside of the car, then removes the old tie by cutting it in half or fourths and replaces it with a new concrete tie. Then it proceeds to also remove the old ballast to the sides, then once the rail is reattached, it comes back over, scoops up the old ballast, cleaning out any debris that is not aggregate, and replaces it around the ties. Then another car comes along and makes sure all the ties and rail sections are ballasted correctly to make the train ride as smooth as possible.
